A loam wall opened up to show the natural-fibre rope net inside

EIC-funded research initiative

Loam, reinforced.

Loam walls with algorithmically generated natural 3D reinforcement.

The Idea

Loam walls reinforced by algorithmically generated 3D natural fibres. Self-supporting, lightweight, and entirely biodegradable.

Benefits 01 / 04

Lightweight. Thin, self-supporting panels, held together by natural fibres.

Benefits 02 / 04

Breathable. Takes up and releases moisture, keeping indoor humidity balanced.

Benefits 03 / 04

Thermal balance. Stores heat and gives it back slowly, evening out indoor temperature.

Benefits 04 / 04

Clean air. Non-toxic and natural. Balanced moisture helps keep mould away.

Beyond

Reinforced loam walls can significantly cut environmental impact compared with cement or lime.

The AlgoLoam team

People

Everything we do is by people, for people.

One of our very first team moments came as an unexpected “team-building exercise” — we were stuck together in an elevator for 40 minutes. It turned into a reminder of what collaboration really means: supporting each other and keeping spirits high when things don’t go as planned.

And that’s exactly the kind of team we have.

Loam Walls

Loam walls are eco-friendly, breathable wall structures made from different types of natural soils. The clay content helps regulate indoor temperatures by gradually absorbing and releasing heat, while the walls’ breathability controls moisture, preventing mold and enhancing indoor air quality.

Natural Reinforcement

We use fibres derived from plants and other natural resources to strengthen and enhance the loam walls. The fibres are fully biodegradable, non-toxic, and have a low environmental impact. They improve the structural integrity of loam walls while preserving their eco-friendly properties — creating strong, sustainable, and optimised walls for healthy indoor environments.
